Selective logging prior to constructionLogging operation
-
The log is moved to the hydraulic lifters and processed using a portable 42 – horse power diesel, super hydraulic band saw. -
The log is peeled to remove the bark and is processed into a square shape called a “cant” -
The onboard computer is set to selected board size -
-
The cant is then ready to be cut into boards -
Boards of different length and thickness are produced and stacked to air dry -
Some lumber is kept untrimmed for a rustic style application -
After drying, the board will be re-milled, planned and shaped per project specifications -
Lumber to be used for interior application is stacked to dry in the solar kiln -
Each component can be specifically designed for each client style … -
And each home design -
The result is a home that’s designed to respect the beauty and integrity of its environment.

Lumber milling
Barr Construction & Restoration takes great pride in milling our own finish lumber, trim, log poles, beams, and other embellishment for our projects.
We often remove trees from properties prior to construction that are in the way of buildings or roads and save the nicest trees for the future Old Growth Forest. We also purchase logs from small local logging companies and arborists, often obtaining unique old-growth specimens logged for hazardous growing conditions.
Our lumber milling fits right in with the resource conservation of today’s “green building” while providing a superior exquisite product specially tailored for each client’s style and home’s design.
