We at Barr Construction & Restoration Inc. take great pride in milling our own lumber. Sometimes it is necessary to remove trees from a client's property before a home construction project can begin.

We are very conscientious, when clearing trees and only when necessary, focusing on those that must be removed for driveways and buildings, are sickly or competing with the strongest, healthiest dominant trees. We also purchase saw logs from small logging companies and arborists, often obtaining unique old-growth specimens that have been removed due to hazardous growing conditions.

After the trees are felled, we process the lumber using a portable forty-two horsepower diesel/super hydraulic band saw that can produce up to 3,000 board-feet of lumber per day. The lumber is milled at the construction site, or it can be transported to our milling yard where it is processed. The lumber is then transferred to our 1,200 square-foot shop where each piece is planed, shaped and detailed to create customized trim and siding for each unique home we build.

Although this process requires expensive equipment and is very time-consuming, we charge only the current retail rate for our lumber. In order to produce truly extraordinary results, each component must be specifically tailored for each client's style and each home's design.

WE USE WOOD THAT IS INDIGENOUS TO OUR AREA:
      • Jeffrey pine(Pinus jeffreyi)
Incense Cedar (Libocedrus decurrens)
White Pine (Pinus monticola)
Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa)
Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta)
Sugar Pine (Pinus lambertiana)
